Significant Light Increases, New Gear, And New PvE Challenges Coming To Destiny

by Kimberley Wallace on Feb 11, 2016 at 11:30 AM

Bungie is hard at work on an upcoming expansion slated for later this year and a full sequel set for 2017, but it also shared some new content and changes coming to Destiny soon.

In Bungie's weekly update, it revealed what's in store for its larger spring update. Players can expect a significant Light increase, new gear, and some new challenges for PvE players. Bungie didn't go into specifics, but said to stay tuned because more will be revealed in the coming weeks for the spring update. This update is separate from another major expansion that coming later in 2016.

The update also discussed some of the Crimson Days event, which will be able until February 16 at 1:00 a.m. PST. Crimson Days bounties take the place of the Weekly Crucible ones, with the Weekly Crucible bounties returning once the event ends. Crimson candy is also available during the event, but will turn into rotten candy once it is over. For more details, you can visit the Crimson Days Guided Support page.

Our Take
Activision's earning call today confirmed the time frame  for a new expansion and sequel, which mean Bungie is hard at work. In the middle of those projects, it's also having a major update in spring with new content. While this blog post doesn't provide a lot of details on it, it does confirm that Bungie has some things in the works to hopefully give new reasons to log into the game. I know there are plenty of dedicated players who are looking for just that.
