New NHL 16 Update Adds Dangler Class To EASHL And New Gameplay Tweaks

by Kimberley Wallace on Feb 11, 2016 at 12:55 PM

A new NHL 16 update is set to make some changes to the game. This month brings more flexibility for EASHL players.

One of the biggest is the addition of the dangler class to EASHL, giving players another position to test out. Before you either depended on your playmaker for fancy passes or your sniper to hit the back of the net for scoring, so it will be interesting to see what the dangler brings to the table, which I'm guessing is some special moves to deke the goalie out of position.

As for the general gameplay tweaks, expect more player separation, more variation in goaltender abilities (more differences between weak and strong), increased referee strictness, increased poke check success, and more. In addition, some Winter Classic and third jerseys will also be available.

You can get a list of all the improvements here. For more, check out our review.

Our Take
I'm glad they're adding another class for EASHL. I'm having a lot of fun playing that with friends, even if I'm not nearly as good as I am when controlling a whole team. We'll have to see how the dangler fares for that style of game.

The increase of the poke check could change up the game. I stopped using it as much, as the stick lift seemed way more powerful in NHL 16 compared to previous iterations. Also, let's hope we can actually see the difference in the goaltenders.

More player separation is also a good thing. While these updates appear to be steps in the right direction, we'll have to see how the actually enhance the game, or if they add more problems. You can never really tell with a sports game what an update will cause, but I'm excited to strap on my skates and give it all a try.
