Former Media Molecule Devs Forge Own Path With Knights And Bikes Kickstarter

by Jeff Cork on Feb 02, 2016 at 04:06 AM

Nostalgia lovers, rejoice. The creators of the game Knights and Bikes, which is up on Kickstarter now, name-check source material that's bound to make fans of the '80s squeal with delight. It's being developed by Foam Sword, an indie studio that's composed of several Media Molecule veterans.

Earthbound, Secret of Mana, and The Goonies are the inspirations listed for the game, which features a pair of kids on a mission to rescue adults. It features co-op gameplay and – of course – plenty of time on bikes.

If you recognize the visual style, it could be because of Rex Crowle's involvement. The Tearaway and LittleBigPlanet artist co-founded the studio with Moo Yoo, who worked on LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank.

Foam Sword is trying to raise $142,577 (or £100,000, for those of you across the pond), and they have 30 days to do so. Check out their pitch video above, which shows what the game might look like in action.

Our Take
All the usual Kickstarter caveats apply here, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun. Now we just have to wait and see if it A) meets its goal and B) is released.
