Become A Super Mario Wallpaper Maker

by Joe Buchholz on Feb 01, 2016 at 07:35 AM

Super Mario Maker has fostered a creative community by inviting players to make intricate levels with its easy-to-use interface. Now Nintendo has opened up similar tools for users to make inventive wallpapers.

The wallpaper creator site is completely in Japanese, but it’s still possible to navigate without any knowledge of the language. It isn’t as robust as the Wii U game’s expanding toolset, but there’s still a lot of room for quirky design.

Unfortunately, you can’t shake items to change their function or play through your creation, but that’s okay as long as it keeps that horrific Skinny Mario away from us. Skinny Mario isn’t the only disturbing thing to come out of Super Mario Maker, as you can see from our coverage of Waluigi’s existential crisis.

To start creating your own Koopa Troopa-filled wallpapers, head over to Nintendo’s site. For more on the clever things the Super Mario Maker community is up to, check out our coverage.
