2K Renews Multi-Year Partnership With WWE

by Mike Futter on Jan 28, 2016 at 02:37 AM

2K is going to remain the home of WWE games in a new multi-year deal. While financial terms were not disclosed, the agreement gives the publisher exclusive rights to games on all platforms and formats.

This indicates that we can continue to expect more yearly installments of the console wrestling franchise. The company will also continue to invest in the SuperCard free-to-play mobile game.

2K says that the iOS and Android title has been downloaded more than 9 million times since its 2014 launch. For more on WWE, check out our review for the most recent console installment.

Our Take
We didn’t love WWE 2K16, making this announcement a double-edged sword. 2K acquired the WWE license it has been operating under following THQ’s demise.

Hopefully striking its own deal for a number of years means improvements are coming. 2K knows sports games. The publisher’s NBA offering is great. It can bring WWE to that level.
