Hard Reset Redux Sets Sights On Consoles And PC As Punishing Shooter Gets Extra Life

by Brian Shea on Jan 27, 2016 at 12:07 PM

Flying Wild Hog and Gambitious Digital Entertainment has announced Hard Reset Redux, an upgraded version of the challenging first-person shooter that hit in 2011.

The updated version of the hardcore single-player shooter brings several enhancements including updated visuals and lighting, faster load times, a quicksave feature, and a new quick dash move. A new cyber-katana weapon has also been added, as has a new Cyber Zombie enemy type. To wrap it all up and make the overall experience better, Hard Reset Redux attempts to improve the difficulty and pacing by balancing the gameplay and placing the enemies in different spots.

Hard Reset Redux is scheduled to arrive "soon" on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you'd like to get a taste of the action, you can check out the trailer below.

Our Take
Hard Reset is a game that pleased fans of punishingly difficult old school shooters, so it's nice to see Flying Wild Hog bringing it forward and modernizing it while remaining true to its original vision. Since it's been so long since the original release, it might even be worth it for fans of the original version to dive back in with these new tweaks.
