Play Rainbow Six Siege On PC Free This Weekend If You Have A Friend Who Owns It

by Mike Futter on Dec 18, 2015 at 06:40 AM

It’s only been out for 17 days, but Ubisoft is already giving PC players a chance at Rainbow Six Siege for free. The offer announced this morning gives those that own the game on that platform the ability to invite up to four friends for a gratis gaming weekend.

The deal is comprehensive, offering bonuses to the inviter and invitees. In order to invite someone, you can get your referral keys from Ubisoft here. For each player that redeems one, you’ll get a 24-hour renown bonus after the weekend concludes.

Those on the receiving end will be granted a 25 percent discount should they decide to purchase. They’ll also be able to keep their progress made during the free weekend.

The weekend begins today at 3:01 p.m. Pacific / 6:01 p.m. Eastern. It ends on Sunday, December 20, at 9:01 p.m. Pacific / Monday, December 21, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern.

Our Take
This is a pretty substantial offer, which causes us to raise our eyebrow at the timing. The game has only been out for two and a half weeks and this deal is limited to PC, where Rainbow Six Siege has the greatest chance of fulfilling Ubisoft’s eSports hopes.

We certainly don’t have the data to definitively say that the community there isn’t as healthy as Ubisoft was hoping, but this deal seems very early in the life cycle to at least wonder if that’s what’s going on.
