Psychonauts VR Game Bridges The Gap Between The Original And Potential Sequel

by Marcus Stewart on Dec 05, 2015 at 06:46 AM

The Fig campaign for Psychonauts 2 is in full swing, but that’s not the only new adventure starring Raz. Double Fine has another Psychonauts title in the works: a virtual-reality experience exclusive to PlayStation VR. .

Psychonauts: In the Rhombus of Ruin bridges the gap between Psychonauts and its potential sequel. The story centers around the rescue mission of Truman Zanotto, Psychonauts leader and father of Lili Zanotto, who was kidnapped at the conclusion of the first game. This tale runs right up into the beginning of Psychonauts 2.

Unlike traditional Psychonauts, Rhombus of Ruin is played entirely in a first-person perspective. Players still control Raz and wield many of his abilities, with clairvoyance in particular used to leap between different minds.

Right now, it doesn’t appear the game will be as long as a standard Psychonauts game, but it’s still early in development. While Psychonauts 2 is seeking crowdfunding, Rhombus of Ruin is being funded entirely by Sony.

Double Fine plans to release Psychonauts: In the Rhombus of Ruin before Psychonauts 2 (which doesn’t yet have a projected release date, if it happens at all). Schafer promises to share more information at E3. You can check out the brief teaser video below.
