Lab Zero Squeaks Out Indivisible Crowdfunding Victory

by Mike Futter on Dec 02, 2015 at 06:33 AM

At the start of November, things didn’t look entirely promising for Skullgirls developer LabZero’s crowdfunding campaign. With 12 days left before the campaign closed, Indivisible, an action-RPG with a cast of guest stars from other indie games, was still just under $1 million away from its $1.5 million goal.

Thanks to a 20-day extension from Indiegogo, Lab Zero closed out its campaign today successfully. Indivisible raised $1,567,729 against its $1.5 million goal.

It’s still going to be a while before we play the finished product, though. Indivisible might be the first game officially announced for a 2018 release, with a current projected launch of January in that year.

If you want to get a taste, Lab Zero has a prototype available on PlayStation 4 (a move that likely contributed to the eventual success of the crowdfunding effort). The final game will include guest appearances from Shovel Knight, Hyper Light Drifter, Skullgirls, Guacamelee, Shantae, Super Time Force, and Battle Chasers.

Lab Zero plans to release Indivisible on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and Linux.

Our Take
The choice to go with Indiegogo appears to have made all the difference here. I’m not familiar with any instance in which Kickstarter, the more popular choice for game crowdfunding, has allowed an extension. Hopefully this effort pays off, as Indivisible looks like an interesting take on the RPG genre with a neat-looking battle system. We have plenty of time to learn more along the way about how Lab Zero plans to pull it together.
