NES-Inspired Friday The 13th Figure Ships This Week With Musical Packaging

by Parker Lemke on Nov 24, 2015 at 07:02 AM

Collectibles manufacturer NECA is celebrating the 13th figure in their line of retro gaming figures with a wide re-release of its original 8-bit Jason Vorhees figure. Originally a Comic-Con exclusive, NECA’s video game Jason Voorhees action figure comes packaged in a musical box.

Before the Kickstarter-funded Friday the 13th: The Game, there was Friday the 13th for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The side-scrolling horror game tasked players with finding and defeating Jason Voorhees as six camp counselors – a practically impossible task. You can watch the Game Informer crew try in this episode of Replay.

Standing at 7 inches and boasting over 25 points of articulation, the figure comes packaged in a window box that mimics the look of 8-bit cartridge boxes. Lifting its front flap conjures the catchy theme from the game. Other features include a machete, axe, harpoon gun, removable mask, and the disembodied head of Jason’s mother.
