Free Star Wars Battlefront Battle Of Jakku DLC Introduces Turning Point Mode

by Mike Futter on Nov 24, 2015 at 05:42 AM

In addition to the two maps coming with the free Battle of Jakku DLC for Star Wars Battlefront, players will get another way to play. The content, which drops for pre-order customers on December 1 and everyone else December 8, includes another large mode for 40 players.

Turning Point is another asymmetric mode, that tasks the Rebels with locating and capturing one of three objectives. If the forces are successful, a new set of locations become available on a push toward the Empire’s base.

Vehicles will be included in the mode, but only airspeeders and AT-STs. Thematically, the starfighters near the planet are engaged in orbit (or already destroyed), so you won't see TIE Fighters and X-Wings cruising by.

Turning Point takes place on the Graveyard of Giants map, which also features debris falling from the sky and a Super Star Destroyer making landfall in an explosive way.

The Battle of Jakku DLC takes us to a planet featured in the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. When we see it on the big screen, it will be 29 years later, though.

Turning Point will only be playable on Jakku (at least for now, since EA hasn't revealed substantial details about the DLC). The two maps will support the existing nine modes, including Walker Assault, Supremacy, and the options for smaller player counts.
