Street Fighter X G.I. Joe Crossover Event Coming To Comics

by Andrew Reiner on Nov 18, 2015 at 05:11 AM

Comic book readers are no strangers to crossover events. DC battled Marvel, Mega Man teamed up with Sonic, Robocop combated the Terminator, Superman took on the Aliens, and come this February, Street Fighter is squaring off against GI-Joe in a six-issue limited series from IDW Publishing.

This series is written by Aubrey Sitterson (Hulk, Superman, Tech Jacket, Worth) with art from Emilio Laiso (Hack/Slash: Son of Samhain) Each issue is 40 pages in length and comes with variant covers. IDW's official synopsis of the first issue makes it sound a little bit like Mortal Kombat: "On a hidden island in international waters, 16 combatants enter a secret tournament… one that pits Street Fighter vs. G.I. Joe! M. Bison and Destro have joined forces, and taking them down will require the world’s finest warriors: Ryu, Snake Eyes, Guile, Scarlett, Chun-Li and Duke."

As strange as this crossover sounds, many of the other events I listed above were quite good. I'll reserve judgment until I get my hands on it, but I certainly never expected to see this story in comic form.
