Five Nights At Freddy's Horrific Animatronics To Explore A New Genre Next Year

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 31, 2015 at 08:23 AM

Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon recently published a teaser trailer for a new game called Five Nights at Freddy's World, and it's a lot different from the previous Freddy's games.

In a post on Steam offering some ambiguous details on the game, Cawthon wrote, "[World] will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions." Cawthon also writes the game will be available for PC, iOS, and Android, has a much larger scope, and a free demo is planned for the game.

The teaser below offers a look at what the gameplay will look like, which is very reminiscent of classic Final Fantasy.

Our Take
This is a surprising direction for Five Nights at Freddy's, but I like it. Cawthon has created a cast of characters that I doubt he even expected to become so popular and recognizable. This seems like a good way to keep going strong without relying on the same old jump-scare tricks.
