Rock Band 4 Interim Title Update Coming Early November

by Brian Shea on Oct 26, 2015 at 02:34 PM

Harmonix has said that it will continue to update the Rock Band 4 experience in ways other than downloadable content, and today the developer delivered an update on an interim patch for the game that will arrive before the scheduled major title update in December. The interim update primarily focuses on allowing custom characters as stand-ins for your band, but there are other smaller details ironed out by this upcoming patch.

The big change for fans of Rock Band 4 is that the newest update adds the ability for players to select custom characters as stand-ins for their band for career mode. If you exit out and go into quickplay, the most recent stand-ins will join you there. In addition, audiophiles will notice an upgrade to 5.1 surround crowd audio support and an adjustment to the microphone volume. The patch also adds the ability for PlayStation 4 users to activate vocal overdrive through the PS4 controller's touchpad, and the ability to stream audio through the PS4.

If you've been having some issues with the technical side of Rock Band 4, Harmonix is also addressing a number of those through this update. To learn more about those, you can visit the Harmonix blog. The studio submitted the patch for certification through Sony and Microsoft last Friday, and is aiming to have it to players by November 2, though if it is ready before then, the developers say they will push it live immediately.

Our Take
When Rock Band 4 released, many noted that it was a little light as far as features go. Online play is still the big missing component, but this does a good job of plugging some of those holes.
