Halo 5: Guardians Soundtrack Comes In $50 Limited Edition Flavor, Too

by Mike Futter on Oct 20, 2015 at 04:14 AM

You won’t be able to own the Halo 5: Guardians soundtrack for another 10 days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t listen to it right now. The entire 39-track collection is streaming on Soundcloud right now. But for some, that’s not enough.

The standard Amazon and iTunes versions are up for pre-order ($15.99), you’ll be able to buy a CD with MP3 download code ($24.99), and there’s a clear vinyl version available only at Hastings locations ($24.99, 1,000 copy limited run, comes with MP3 download code). Still, even that might not be enough for you.

For Halo and music enthusiasts, a $49.99 collection might be the way to go. It includes two CDs, two vinyl records, a 5.1 surround sound blu-ray version of the music, sheet music from the Abby Roads recording sessions, and digitally distributed bonus tracks.

Our Take
While the music retains the theme and spirit of Marty O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori’s original compositions, composer Kazuma Jinnouchi takes the soundtrack in different directions. The result is something that reflects the new direction 343 is taking the series while retaining the foundation of familiarity upon which  the franchise has been built.
