Reader Discussion: Are You Picking Up Guitar Hero Live?

by Brian Shea on Oct 19, 2015 at 02:35 PM

Guitar Hero Live launches tomorrow and delivers several innovations to not only the franchise, but to the genre as a whole. With Rock Band 4 going the more traditional route in terms of gameplay and feature-set, Guitar Hero Live is viewed by many as the more ambitious release. Is that enough for you to splurge on a new game with new hardware, though?

As a die-hard Guitar Hero and Rock Band fan, I'm excited and intrigued by the features that Guitar Hero Live is bringing. The Live mode, which uses full-motion video in gameplay, is better in execution than in theory, and the TV mode seems like a cool idea that is hopefully not too ambitious for its own good. Either way, it seems like Guitar Hero Live could be an awesome tool for music discovery, which has me excited to check it out.

Are you buying into FreeStyle Games' revitalization of one of the biggest video game franchises of the last 10 years, or do you think the ship has sailed on the franchise? If you are picking it up tomorrow, what are you most excited to check out?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and be sure to check back tomorrow for our review. While you wait for our review, you can check out the full list of confirmed songs to this point.
