Weekend Warrior 10/16/15

by Marcus Stewart on Oct 16, 2015 at 02:00 PM

Much of the Game Informer staff is either trying to wrap up Witcher 3 or diving into the Hearts of Stone expansion this weekend. Those of us not enslaved to Geralt are enjoying other titles such as Yoshi’s Woolly World, Until Dawn, Mad Max, and Metal Gear Solid V. Two interns will also bond over a mutual love of  anime and pro wrestling.

What are you playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Joseph Knoop (@JosephKnoop)–I’ve been away from the Witcher long enough that returning to its oppressive, beautiful world doesn’t strike me with fear, so clearly it’s time I hopped back in for the Hearts of Stone expansion. The best stories in Wild Hunt were almost always the inventive side quests, so one big extra mission (that I hear is as long as the Bloody Baron’s portion of Wild Hunt) is exciting. I’ll likely be continuing my streak of ignoring anyone who asks to play Gwent, too.

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner)–I’m hanging with Master Chief in Halo 5: Guardians this weekend. I also have work and family to pay attention to, but as we always say, games come first, work and family are a distant second, right?

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM)–Last weekend I got unexpectedly distracted by the Battlefront beta, which filled most of my gaming time with laser blasts and thermal detonators (I also got stomped to death by an AT-ST, which was pretty cool!). This weekend it’s (fingers crossed) back to MGS V. Despite being pretty awesome at the game, I’m still only about halfway through, but continue to love the stealthy sniping and enemy fultoning gameplay.

Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7)–Finishing Witcher 3 continues to be priority number one, but I’m contemplating picking up Downwell on Steam. It’s a vertical shooter where you control a plummeting boy who blasts enemies with his gunboots, and it looks kind of sweet. Joseph and I began re-watching Ultimate Muscle and will likely continue making our way through the entire series. If you’re an anime and/or wrestling fan and have never seen it, do yourself a favor: find it online, grab some cow and rice, and check out what’s easily the greatest piece of media across any medium ever.

Tim Turi (@timturi)–I can feel the epic story of The Witcher 3 nearing its conclusion as I continue to play. It’s been a fun ride, but I’m ready for Geralt’s adventure to come to a close so I can play other things like Mad Max and Destiny. I also hope to keep plugging away at Yoshi’s Woolly World’s co-op mode.

Matt Bertz (@mattbertz)–With Halloween on the horizon, I plan to wrap up Soma and start Until Dawn. Once those scares are out of my system it’s time to see what all the Metal Gear Solid V fuss is about and jump back into Grand Theft Auto Online, which I’ve been meaning to do for more than a month.
