Witcher Developer Discusses The Design Behind Hearts Of Stone DLC In New Video

by Joseph Knoop on Oct 15, 2015 at 07:14 AM

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red released a new developer video today, detailing their design philosophy behind the new expansion DLC Hearts of Stone. Team leaders explain how they involved team and fan feedback into the new content.

“A very positive aspect of working at CD Projekt Red is that your voice and opinion, they really matter,” Senior Visual Effects Artist Jose Teixeira said in the video. “In fact, everyone here is counting on it, on your own proactiveness [sic] in making this game better. There are countless examples of things that were added to the game thanks to suggestions in meetings, conversations in the corridor, even reading comments on internet forums.”

The video details CD Projekt Red’s philosophy behind investing in additional Wild Hunt content, including the decision to add free DLC leading up to Hearts of Stone. Also included is new footage from the expansion’s estimated 10 hours of content, including Geralt’s meeting with Shani, a character not seen since the first Witcher game and a romantic option in Hearts of Stone.

The Hearts of Stone digital version is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for $10, but North American audiences will have to wait "several days" for the physical limited edition, according to the developer. The collector's edition includes a download code for the expansion, both a monsters and Scoia'tael Gwent deck, Gwent tokens, and a collector's box.
