NHL 16 Adds Missing Rookies With Second Roster Update

by Brian Shea on Oct 14, 2015 at 02:15 PM

EA Sports and EA Canada have released the second roster update for NHL 16. This update is significant because it fills the rosters with rookies who were previously missing due to a rule the NHL has regarding player likenesses.

Former NCAA players are disallowed from appearing in NHL games until they play in their first game in the NHL. With the regular season kicking off on October 7, EA Canada is finally able to add the likes of the Sabres' Jack Eichel and the Hurricanes' Noah Hanifin to their respective rosters.

To download this new roster update on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, head to the rosters menu in the customize section and select the most recent official update under EA Sports NHL Official Rosters.

NHL 15 was a major disappointment, but Matt Bertz like NHL 16 much better. If you'd like to read why, head to his review.

Our Take
Even though it still kind of stinks that these players can't appear in the game prior to the season's start, it's great to see rising stars like Eichel finally in the game.
