Man Shows Off Replica Of Thor's Mjölnir That Only He Can Lift

by Brian Shea on Oct 14, 2015 at 04:04 PM

In the recent Avengers: Age of Ultron, a scene centers on the various heroes attempting to pick up Thor's mighty hammer, Mjölnir. Just before each hero fails to lift the legendary hammer, Thor explains that only those who are worthy to wield Mjölnir are able to lift it. YouTuber Sufficiently Advanced took to Venice Beach with his own replica of the hammer that only he was worthy to lift.

Sure, he may very well be deceptively strong, but that's not the secret to why only he can lift it. So how does he make it this way? The answer, as usual, is magnets. Using super powerful electromagnets and a thumbprint scanner programmed to recognize his prints and deactivate the magnets, he makes it so only he can pick up the replica when it's placed head-down on sheet metal or a manhole cover.

Check out the video of him showing off his intricate invention (including a behind-the-scenes look at the mechanics beneath the convincing shell) below and join us in pondering how much time, money, and effort was poured into this awesome device.
