PSA: The Star Wars Battlefront Open Beta Is Now Available

by Brian Shea on Oct 08, 2015 at 07:10 AM

After a couple days of closed beta, the Star Wars Battlefront is now opening up, allowing all who have a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC to download and play. Also part of the beta experience is the Star Wars Battlefront Companion app, which allows you to earn in-game credits and unlock weapons and more in Star Wars Battlefront.

The beta test includes three modes: Drop Zone, Walker Assault, and Survival. Drop Zone is a firefight where Imperial troops and Rebels face off to capture drop pods that spawn around the map. Walker Assault is a 40-player battle where the Rebel side must take down an Imperial AT-AT before it destroys its objective. Survival is a single-player or co-op mode where players must survive waves of Imperial attackers.

The open beta is currently set to run through Monday, October 12. The companion app can be downloaded at StarWarsBattlefront.com, while the beta can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Live Marketplace, or the Origin Store, depending on your platform of choice. If you'd like to see some footage of the beta in action, you can check out our recent episode of Test Chamber with the beta.
