The Witcher 3’s First Major Expansion Coming Next Month, Physical Gwent Cards Available Soon

by Mike Futter on Sep 08, 2015 at 03:34 AM

If you’ve played all the way through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and doubled back with new game plus, chances are you might be interested in what’s coming next month. CD Projekt Red has announced that the first of two major expansions arrives in October.

Hearts of Stone will add approximately 10 hours to the already sizable game. And for those of you addicted to the in-game card game, Gwent, you’ll have two ways to get physical cards.

A retail collector’s edition for the expansion will include two sets of cards: Monsters and Scoia’tael. If you already purchased the digital expansion pass, don’t fret. CD Projekt is doing it right and giving you a chance to purchase the decks.

The retail version will cost $19.99. Purchasing digitally will save you $10, but you won’t get the Gwent cards. The expansion pass, which also includes the upcoming Blood and Wine add-on gets you both for $24.99. No pricing is listed for the Gwent cards yet, but given the pricing difference between retail and digital, it’s safe to expect something in the neighborhood of $10.

Hearts of Stone will be out on October 13 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more check out our review of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
