LucasFilm Reveals Huge (Spoilery) Star Wars: The Force Awakens Plot Point

by Mike Futter on Sep 04, 2015 at 11:15 AM

If you don’t want to be spoiled at all for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, turn back now. Really. Go. We won’t hold it against you.

Star Wars fan site StarWars7News found an interesting update to the official Star Wars Databank with The Force Awakens details. This is your last chance. Spoilers are ahead.

If you thought the Death Star was bad news (certainly the population of Alderaan did), The First Order’s plans are positively frightening. According to the Star Wars Databank, there is something called “Starkiller Base,” featured in The Force Awakens.

This has nothing to do with the character from The Force Unleashed. He’s been erased from canon entirely, of course.

No, Starkiller Base is the name of the ice planet we’ve seen briefly. Housed there is a weapon capable of wiping out entire solar systems.

Certainly there’s more to uncover, including context. Knowing what the threat is facing our heroes and why The First Order is such an imposing force gets us a good bit of the way there, though.

December 18 isn’t that far away… right?
