Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Gets Nuk3town Pre-Order Bonus, But Only On New-Gen Platforms

by Matt Miller on Aug 31, 2015 at 10:05 AM

Activision today revealed plans to once again revive the Nuketown multiplayer map, with the slighly tweaked name of Nuk3town. The Nuketown map showed up first in the original Black Ops, and again in Black Ops II (Nuketown 2025 pictured above). Treyarch appears to be shooting for a hat trick, as they’ve redesigned the map yet again, and are including it in Black Ops III as a pre-order bonus for those playing on newer platforms.

"We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place,” says Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia.

The bonus map will be included as an in-box download code for players who preorder Call of Duty: Black Ops III prior to launch. The Nuk3town map is available only to players who preorder on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. We’ve reached out to Activision to ask about why PS3 and Xbox 360 players won’t have access to this pre-order opportunity.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III has an announced release date of November 6.

Our Take
Call of Duty fans should be happy to hear about the return of a familiar map, but players on PS3 and 360 may be rightfully confused why they’re being left out of the deal.
