Coming To PAX? Join Us At Panels And A Community Meet-Up

by Mike Futter on Aug 27, 2015 at 11:44 AM

We’re getting ready to head out to PAX in Seattle this weekend. If that’s your plan as well, you can meet up with us during the weekend.

News editor Mike Futter and features editor Tim Turi are participating on panels. We’re also holding a community meet up on Sunday afternoon (specific time TBD).

If you’ve got room in your schedule for us, swing by and say hello. We’d love to meet you!

Hitman: The Art of Assassination

Friday - 8:30 p.m. Pacific, Mike
Hydra Theatre (And on Twitch)

Join HITMAN Art Director Jonathan Rowe and Lead Writer Michael Vogt for an hour long journey into the design philosophy behind the visual and narrative universe of the world of assassination. Hosted by Game Informer’s Mike Futter, the pair will delve into the process behind the creation of the trademark living, breathing world of HITMAN and give numerous insights and examples into the design process for visual and narrative storytelling in a world where the main character says very little.

How does art direction and story design impact the player experience in a complex game like HITMAN? The panel will end with a playthrough demo of the ‘Showstopper’ mission from the upcoming HITMAN game as well as a moderated Q&A.

Dreadnought Live Stream

Saturday - 12 p.m. Pacific, Mike
Live on Game Informer's Twitch Channel

Tune in for two hours of live streamed action as Mike tries not to embarrass himself in front of an audience. Dreadnought is the upcoming multiplayer space combat game from Yager that focuses on huge ships the size the size of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Battlestar Galactica, and Imperial Star Destroyers.

Game Show Night: Blankety Blank

Saturday - 9 p.m. Pacific, Mike
Sphinx Theatre

Get ready to match the stars! Join a hilarious collection of writers, pundits, and comedians for Blankety Blank, the live version of classic TV game show Match Game. Members of the audience will be selected as contestants and challenged to predict how the panelists will answer excessively silly questions.

Whoever matches the most answers wins! For a raucous hour of raunchy fun, stop by - and bring your sense of humor.  Part of Game Show Night!

The 3rd Annual* PAX Rumble! N64 Wrestling, 30 Challengers, and YOU!

Sunday, 10 a.m. Pacific, Tim
Hydra Theatre (And on Twitch)

Against the better judgment of all involved, we're back for the 3rd Annual PAX Rumble! Except this is really our 3rd Rumble in 2 years, but we're just so dang excited! 30 incredibly talented members of the gaming community will crowd around a Nintendo 64-era wrestling game and yell at each other for your amusement.

Previous PAX wrestling panels have seen a man in American flag pants power bombed through a table, bottles broken over the head of a doctor wearing a velvet tracksuit, and a Diet Coke can who died and was resurrected by magic.

What barely containable chaos will unfold this time around? How much longer will Penny Arcade permit this nonsense? The next step is involving actual professional wrestlers, right? Life is strange.

Someone Wrote Clickbait, and You Won't Believe What Happened Next

Sunday, 12:30 p.m. Pacific, Mike
Chicken Theatre

The world of games journalism can seem sensationalist at times, but is there a method to the madness? Where do writers come up with their headlines, and are they trying to trick you into giving extra clicks?

This panel discusses the challenges journalists face trying to simultaneously capture an audience's attention, while serving the need for information. Why do journalists write the way they do, and what's the best way to respect and serve the reader? This panel provides an inside look.

Community Meetup

Sunday, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Pacific
Gameworks
1511 7th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101

Take a break from the convention floor to hang out with us on Sunday afternoon. We’d love to meet you!
