Learn How Hitler's Cameo In Persona 2: Innocent Sin Complicated Localization For North America

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 23, 2015 at 09:52 AM

The true second Persona game, Innocent Sin, took 12 years to make it to North America and it was partially due to the inclusion of Hitler and other real-world references.

There are two Persona 2 games: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment released in 1999 and 2000 respectively. Eternal Punishment was fully localized for North America, but it took it being remade  on PSP in 2011 for Innocent Sin to make it to North America. This was partly due to the workload of Atlus' localizers, but as the latest video from Did You Know Gaming points out, it was also due in part to a cameo from Adolf Hitler in the game.

The video also looks at unused Persona 3 and 4 designs, as well as content that didn't make either of the games' final cut. For more on Persona, head here to learn about the game's difficult, but ultimately successful transition to North America.
