CD Projekt Red Unleashes The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Mod Support

by Mike Futter on Aug 14, 2015 at 04:22 AM

Now the fun really begins. CD Projekt Red has announced mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt starting today.

The studio has opted to use Nexus Mods, a popular site that is home to mods for Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dark Souls, and more. For those interested in building new tools and experiences for The Witcher 3, you’ll need the modkit.

Those of you just looking to explore what other create need only sit back and wait. Once mods are available (there are few sample ones now), you’ll need to copy them into your “mod” subfolder in the game directory. Each mod must be in its own folder, with a name that starts with “mod.”

Starting the game as normal will trigger the mods to activate. If you create anything fun, send it our way. We’re eager to see what you come up with. For more on The Witcher 3, check out our review.

Our Take
For those who aren’t swayed by PC graphics, mod support is the real reason to play on the platform. Community creations push games in unexpected and absurd directions, making them some of the most enjoyable experiences available in the medium.
