[Update] Ori And The Blind Forest Definitive Edition With New Content On The Way This Year

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 06, 2015 at 08:45 AM

Update: Ori's director, Thomas Mahler, reached out to offer a few more details about the Ori expansion. It will be Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition.

In an e-mail Mahler offered the following:

Basically, we wanted to do the Definitive Edition of Ori, because while we made a LOT of people happy, there were some outcries we heard from fans regarding some things and we just want to be known for making the absolute best games for our fans out there. We really went back, added more content, fixed ALL the things people have been asking for (not talking about bugs here, but actual design and content feedback) and we just want to give back and make it the perfect experience for people who loved Ori and those who haven't gotten to try it yet.

In a video from Microsoft shot on the Gamescom show floor, which you can see below, Mahler and Ori project manager Gennadiy Korol say the Definitive Edition will have new content, areas, artwork, mechanics, and "potentially new abilities."

Chat about the Definitive Edition begins at the 56 minute mark in the video below.

Our Take
Ori is definitely one of my favorite games of 2015. I'd love to have an excuse to play it more. I hope the expansion allows you to re-enter the world and collect everything you missed. That was one of my few disappointments with the game.
