Quantum Break's Shawn Ashmore Reacts To Receiving Entertainment's Highest Honor
Earlier today, I had the chance to chat with Shawn Ashmore about playing Jack Joyce in Remedy's Quantum Break. Our conversation, which included Remedy creative director Sam Lake, touched on his past roles, how he adapted to the digital medium, and developing Jack's character.
Before we parted, I felt it important to ask him about one of his most recent television roles and the honor it bestowed upon him. No, Ashmore didn't win an Emmy for his role as Mike Weston on The Following. He got something much better.
Game Informer: I'll wrap up with this. It's a very serious question. How does it feel to be one degree from Kevin Bacon?
Shawn Ashmore: Pretty amazing. [laughs] I'm glad we landed on that. In all honesty, I sat at the table read for The Following, and I was super nervous jumping into it. I did look over halfway through after I had my first scene with Kevin and whispered, 'I'm one degree away.'
Sam Lake: So that means...
Ashmore: [smiling] You're two degrees away. You're welcome. The other thing that's so funny is that when Guardians of the Galaxy came out, I was sitting in the theater. One of my favorite movies last year, and they're making [Footloose] references. He's worked with James [Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy] before. I can't get away from Kevin, he's the coolest guy in the world. Working with Kevin was incredible, and it is awesome to be a degree away.
