PewDiePie Releases Video Discussing The Internet Feedback To His Impressive $7 Million Salary

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 07, 2015 at 02:39 PM

YouTube (and South Park) phenomenon Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg makes a lot of money with his channel, and he recently released a video responding to those responding to his salary.

A Swedish newspaper, Expressen, revealed approximately how much the YouTube star makes per year, and it's around the $7 million mark. The Internet was, unsurprisingly, shocked by the number, and as is the case with most of PewDiePie's output, reacted with loud Internet comments.

In response, Mr. Kjellberg released the video below thoughtfully taking on the subject basically saying he likes money because he is a human being, but it's not as important to him as having a good time making video content for his fans. He also jokingly admits to making lame sex jokes and thinks he looks good in a bikini. Mr. Kjellberg ends the video saying, "It seems like the whole world cares more about how much money I make than I do myself," and reminds watchers that he also raises a lot of money for charity, even if that's not what makes headlines.

This is not the first time Mr. Kjellberg has been outspoken about money, though this is the first time he has talked about his own. For his thoughts on Nintendo's insistance on Nintendo fighting against the monetization of its games on YouTube, head here.

Our Take
More power to you PewDiePie. You excel at your art and I am impressed – even if I don't totally get it, myself.
