Weekend Warrior 7/3/2015

by Alissa McAloon on Jul 03, 2015 at 02:00 PM

While a lot of us are having to swap to our handhelds while we enjoy the 4th of July with family, both Batman and The Witcher 3 still seem to be our weekend favorites. Are you spending your weekend at a lake with patriotic explosives or are you celebrating America's birthday by defending Gotham City? Let us know in the comments!

Wade Wojick (@wadewojcik I’ll be at my family’s cabin, where electronics are frowned upon during the 4th celebration. That doesn’t mean I won’t sneak my 3DS to finally finish the Majora’s Mask remake and tackle Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

Joe Juba (@Joejuba)  I am hoping to finally get back into The Witcher 3 over the weekend. I took a long break after release due to the small font and various bugs, but it seems like those are mostly ironed out at this point. I also never finished Fallout: New Vegas when it first released, so I started that up on PC so I can experiment with different mods. Lastly, no one in the office can shut up about Batman: Arkham Knight, so I should get on that soon unless I want it spoiled for me.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea)  I’m traveling this week, so I’ll be attending concerts and family events, so gaming won’t be at the forefront of my weekend. That said, during my travels, I’ll be playing my fair share of Majora’s Mask 3D on 3DS, Final Fantasy X HD on Vita, and XCOM: Enemy Within for iPad. My family owns a Wii with a healthy collection of Virtual Console games as well, so I’ll probably play some Star Fox 64 and Mario Kart 64 at some point.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM)  I didn’t get much gaming in last week, so my witching progress has been completely stalled. I hope to use the extended weekend to get back into Geralt’s hunt for Ciri, while taking on a ton of random side quests (I can’t leave all those questions marks on the map!). In reality, however, I’ll probably spend most of my time holed up playing Gwent with random tavern nerds. If that’s not true-to-life role-playing, I don’t know what is.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard)  I don’t have any outlandish July 4th plans, but I will probably cook something, and I will definitely play some more Batman: Arkham Knight. I’ve been staying up far too late since its launch to make my way through the game. I’ve really been enjoying the narrative, but as I do with most open world games, I have been focusing on side stuff before making my way to the big story moments.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty)  This weekend I'm going out to my lake lot with Tim, Bryan Vore, and some buffoon named Dan Ryckert. I'm hoping to play some arcade games, N64 (only Perfect Dark), and also throw in a couple of ping pong matches. Have a good weekend, get outside!

Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves)  I’m looking forward to celebrating my independence by kicking oppression in the head. This means I’ll be playing a lot of Batman and The Witcher. I also plan on eating a lot of hot dogs and going to see Inside Out. Probably exactly in that order.

Christain Belland (@ChrisFightsBear)  Hershall and I will be spending the weekend in a cabin in the wilderness, so naturally we’ll be bringing my PlayStation 4 so we can shoot some aliens in Helldivers.

Alissa McAloon (@Gliitchy) – While I am headed home for the weekend, I'm mostly going to be there to dog-sit for my younger sister. No complaints here. If you need me, I'll be camped out on her sofa with a couple of dachshunds and trying to unlock the Iron Banner chest piece in Destiny. But I'll be sure to do my American duty and light off a few fireworks, drink some beer, and work on my tan sunburn sometime this holiday weekend too.

Tim Turi (@timturi) – This weekend isn’t the most promising for playing new releases, mostly because I’ll be holed up at Ben Hanson’s neat lake lot. I plan to play games like drink drinks, light fireworks, and get dragged behind a speed boat on an inflatable tube. Ben does, however, have an N64 hooked up at the place with some choice games like Super Smash Bros. 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. Additionally, there are some fun old arcade games like Street Fighter II and Ninja Turtles that I’m hoping to dive into. Happy Fourth of July, fellow Americans!
