Rocksteady Temporarily Suspending PC Sales Of Batman: Arkham Knight To Address Quality

by Kyle Hilliard on Jun 24, 2015 at 03:52 PM

The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has been suffering myriad issues, and in response Rocksteady is suspending sales of the game in order to get it fixed.

In a post on Warner Bros. Interactive's message boards, Rocksteady wrote the following:

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards.  We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

If you already purchased the game, you can try to tweak some of the game's settings to get the game running properly (more on that here) or Rocksteady suggests requesting a refund through Steam, or wherever else the game was originally purchased. This suspension shouldn't affect those who already own the game. It's unclear when the PC version of the game will be available for sale again. Rocksteady writes, "The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played."

Our Take
This is a surprising reaction to the issues facing the PC version of the game, but it is an indicator that Rocksteady is truly committed to quality. It could just as easily continue to sell the game while working on a patch, but it doesn't want PC players to experience the game that way. I don't know that a game has ever been delayed after release, but I suppose there is a first time for everything. Now, we just need developers to prevent this kind of thing prior to release, and we'll be all set.
