Australian Ratings Board Lists Zombi On Xbox One

by Jeff Cork on Jun 22, 2015 at 05:18 AM

Ubisoft's ZombiU was one of the launch games for Wii U back in 2012. Unfortunately, the new IP wasn't as successful as Ubisoft had hoped. According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot a few months after its release, the game was nowhere near to being profitable, and there weren't any plans for a sequel. Players may not be able to see what happened to the world after the first game's ending, but it does appear that they'll be able to revisit the London zombie outbreak all over again on current gen.

An entry for a Ubisoft game simply called "Zombi" has popped up on Australia's ratings site, which shares a variety of common points with the WiiU title. IGN points out that the breakdown of its MA 15+ rating is identical to the initial Wii U release, and that its filing number refers back to the 2012 game. A critical difference is that the game in question is for the Xbox One, which, when you factor in the ratings board's notation that Zombi is "modified" rather than "original," all but confirms that we're looking at a ZombiU port.

We've reached out to Ubisoft, and will update this story with more details if we receive additional information,

Our Take
Tim wasn't a big fan of the game, citing its controls and distracting visuals. Hopefully, issues like those will be ironed out if Ubisoft does indeed intend to release a remake. One question remains: How will GamePad-specific functionality such as inventory management and environmental scanning work without a secondary screen?
