Treyarch Details Two New Multiplayer Specialists For Black Ops III

by Brian Shea on Jun 16, 2015 at 09:00 AM

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is changing the way multiplayer works within the Call of Duty formula by introducing Specialists. These Specialists, which replace the generic soldiers of Call of Duty titles past, bring special abilities and weapons, as well as unique personalities and backstories.

At E3 2015, Treyarch announced two new Specialists, making it so that six of the nine total have been revealed. While we previously learned all about Ruin, Seraph, Reaper, and Outrider, Treyarch has added Prophet and Nomad to that list.

Prophet is said to be on the cutting edge of human weaponry on the battlefield. His Specialist weapon is called Tempest and is a powerful lightning gun that chains an arc to all enemies in the vicinity. Prophet’s Specialist ability was previously seen in Reaper, but Glitch now belongs to Prophet. Glitch allows Prophet to teleport back to where he was around two seconds prior. The ability can be used Reaper, who formerly held this ability, now has Psychosis, an ability that deploys three procedurally generated decoys of Reaper to confuse opponents.

The second newly revealed Specialist is called Nomad. Nomad is the last surviving member of an elite rapid deployment force that specialized in jungle warfare. His unique weapon is called Hive, which allows him to deploy pod traps in the battlefield that release nano drones that swarm over any enemy unfortunate enough to walk by. Rejack, Nomad’s ability injects a serum right into his bloodstream, causing him to recover from near-death.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set to release on November 6. The game will appear on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
