Killzone Creators Announce Horizon: Zero Dawn

by Kyle Hilliard on Jun 15, 2015 at 03:29 PM

Guerrilla Games, the creators of Killzone, are moving away from the science-fiction first-person shooter, and into the world of third-person hunting in a land where nature has almost taken over.

On stage, the game was presented as taking place far in the future where a massive blackout wiped out most of the world's technology. It's unclear if it is meant to be Earth. Nature has taken back over and humans are forming tribes attempting to fend for themselves against a surprising enemy – robots.

A.I. robots are thriving in this world, and we saw robots of all sizes, including smaller bipedal creatures, and gigantic dinosaur-sized beasts – which the game's protagonist hunted little by little. We saw her fire off explosive arrows, slide underneath a gigantic creature to attack its weak points, tie it down with ropes, and eventually expose an explosive weak spot to destroy it. We also heard her apologize to a small creature she felt necessary must must killed, saying sorry and that she couldn't allow it to alert its friends.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below. The game is coming to PlayStation 4 in 2016.
