Crackdown And Scalebound Are Skipping E3 For Gamescom

by Mike Futter on Jun 11, 2015 at 11:23 AM

Two titles we expected to see next week at Microsoft's press conference won't be making it to the show. Microsoft announced today that Platinum Games' Scalebound and Crackdown led by Dave Jones (who worked on the original) are skipping E3.

"Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10," writes head of Xbox Phil Spencer. We also know that Quantum Break won't be at the show, with a Gamescom blowout planned.

Microsoft attributes bumping these until later in the year to a full lineup. "Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll be sharing many more of our plans for 2015 and beyond," Spencer writes. "Having a jam-packed lineup of games to show at E3 means that there simply isn’t enough time to give each of our upcoming titles its well-deserved time in the spotlight."

Microsoft has re-confirmed Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Forza Motorsport 6 for its press conference next week.

Our Take
I'm disappointed we won't be seeing these next week. Both seemed like locks, with Crackdown at least getting another quick look and Scalebound getting much more detail. Hopefully, Microsoft is filling that time with other games and not media and peripherals.
