Visit Tamriel In This Man's $50,000 Elder Scrolls Basement

by Mike Futter on Jun 09, 2015 at 03:05 AM

So you've stood in line at a convention for hours on end for an extremely limited exclusive or sat out in the cold for a midnight opening. That makes you a superfan. We need to coin a new word for Tyler Kirkham, who spent $50,000 on converting his basement into an Elder Scrolls-themed retreat. How does "Ultrafan" sound?

Barcroft TV showcased the basement in a video released today. Kirkham, a comic book artist from Salt Lake City, Utah, has decorated the room with a water feature, Elder Scrolls-appropriate weaponry, a Dovahkiin helmet (of course), and training dummies. Oh, and there's a secret passage triggered by pulling a book.

Kirkham father, a contractor, assisted in the construction after being given a tour of the game. Kirkham pointed out specific features he wanted to mimic in his hideaway. The project took two years, and includes a bathroom themed like a mineshaft.

The video above runs down the different elements of the build, including costs. Alas, there are no cheese wheels featured. And, if there is anyone indulging in skooma, the footage is on the cutting room floor.
