The Warp Zone’s Take On Amiibo Sales: Satire Or Documentary?

by Mike Futter on May 15, 2015 at 03:57 AM

YouTube comedy channel The Warp Zone has taken a jab at Nintendo’s handling of Amiibo shortages in a recent skit. If you’ve ever watched the Home Shopping Channel or QVC, you’ll recognize the authenticity of despair (and that’s just what’s emanating from the hosts of those programs not living up to their dreams).

As you might suspect, the shortage of certain (read: many) characters causes frustration amongst the viewers. But what happens toward the end is where we become unclear if this is comedy or documentary.

If you don’t understand why this is funny, it’s probably because you’ve managed to escape the net of Amiibo hype. The figures have been exceedingly hard to come by, with figures disappearing in minutes after pre-orders open.

Nintendo has addressed the problem, but we suspect it’s going to be a while before the Villagers, Little Macs, and Marths overflow store shelves. If you are an Amiibo hunter, godspeed.
