EA Reports 80 Percent Of Battlefield Hardline Sales Were For Current-Gen Consoles

by Mike Futter on May 05, 2015 at 12:05 PM

EA says that consumers are choosing new-gen versions of cross-generation titles in big numbers. The company reported a breakout of sales for Battlefield Hardline that offers some good news for publishers hoping to transition to current-gen development only.

EA says that 80 percent of Battlefield Hardline copies were sold for Xbox One or PlayStation 4. "Illustrating how far the transition has come, four out of every five copies sold for consoles that were either Xbox One or PlayStation 4," said EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen.

Our Take
This is especially good news for EA (and other publishers) that are moving away from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 entirely. Specifically, Star Wars Battlefront has some big sales goals to reach, with EA announcing sales goals of 9 to 10 million copies.
