EA Lists Mirror’s Edge And New Plants Vs. Zombies Console Game For Release In 2016

Update: EA CEO Andrew Wilson connected the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies game to 2014's Garden Warfare during today's earnings call. "After Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare became a sensation last year with console players young and old, we will be returning to the Plants vs. Zombies universe with a bigger and bolder new console experience in FY16 that we'll share more about at E3," Wilson said.

In its presentation slides for the upcoming earnings call, EA lists a number of games for release during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016. Among them are the long-promised Mirror’s Edge and a new Plants vs. Zombies console game.

EA’s current slate is as follows for the coming months:

April - June 2015

  • Nothing

July - September 2015

  • FIFA 16 (Console, PC)
  • Madden NFL 16 (Console)
  • NHL 16 (Console)
  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour (Console)

October - December 2015

  • NBA Live 16
  • Need for Speed (Untitled - Console, PC)
  • Star Wars Battlefront (Console, PC)

January - March 2016

  • Mirror’s Edge (Console, PC)
  • Plants vs. Zombies (Untitled - Console, PC)

Our Take
The fact that Mirror’s Edge is on the calendar is good news. This also hints that EA was happy with Garden Warfare’s performance and might be coming back for seconds. Notably missing is the next Battlefield game, which I assume won’t arrive any earlier than fall 2016 with Battlefront nicely filling that hole this fall.
