Dragon Ball Z Returning To TV This Summer With New Series In Japan

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 28, 2015 at 05:46 AM

After an 18 year hiatus, Dragon Ball Z is returning to television this summer with Dragon Ball Super, and the original creator is on board.

The show will take place after the events of the Buu saga and the recent film which has not yet released in North America, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. Additional details are slim, but Toei Animation did offer the following noting that the name may change by the time the show is localized:

Reuniting the franchise’s iconic characters, Dragon Ball Super will follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace. Overseen by Dragon Ball’s original creator, Akira Toriyama and produced with Fuji Television, Dragon Ball Super will draw on its historic past to create a bold, new universe welcoming to fans and endearing to new viewers.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse released on new and lest-gen consoles in February, and was a big hit. You can read our review here, and look forward to new DLC based on the upcoming Resurrection F film, which is what you see pictured above.
