[Update] Rumor: "It's Not Gonna Happen" Says Guillermo del Toro, "Super Bummed" Says Norman Reedus On Silent Hills

by Kyle Hilliard on Apr 26, 2015 at 09:55 AM

Update: Norman Reedus, star of Silent Hills, has added to the rumor of the game's cancellation on twitter.

Below, you will see a tweet from Reedus about Silent Hills where he wrote, "Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone. Pizza," followed by a link to a story discussing Silent Hills' current predicament.

Original Story:

Speaking at an event in San Francisco yesterday, Guillermo del Toro reportedly said that Silent Hills is no longer going to happen.

The disappointing quote from del Toro was reported by Matt Hackney on twitter who was attending the event and tweeted what you see above. Hackney's tweet quotes del Toro telling the crowd, when asked about Silent Hills, "It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart."

We've reached out to Konami, Sony, the venue where the event was held, the San Francisco Film Society (who coordinated the event), and del Toro's production company for more information and will update this story if we learn more details.

Our Take
For now this is an unsubstantiated rumor as we can't confirm the quote, but with Hideo Kojima's ambiguous break-up with Konami and last night's news that the distribution period for Silent Hills on PlayStation Network is ending this month, things are not looking good for Silent Hills. I am definitely pessimistic about Silent Hills ever seeing full release, but I would love to be wrong.
