Halo 5 Spartan Locke Multiplayer Armor Is GameStop’s Pre-Order Bonus

by Matt Miller on Apr 20, 2015 at 08:07 AM

GameStop revealed today its plans for a pre-order bonus for Halo 5: Guardians, and the news came along with an accompanying video that shows off the armor in action. The new HUNTER-class armor is a notable departure from the MJOLNIR armor of previous games, and the video goes out of its way to show off some new tricks.

By pre-ordering through GameStop, players will gain access to Locke’s HUNTER-class armor in multiplayer matches. It’s safe to assume that Locke’s new armor will already play a big part in the single-player campaign.

The announcement comes with some additional lore detail about the HUNTER armor, including that it incorporates Watershed Division’s newly-created battle tech, and that the prototype armor is built to enhance “situational and threat awareness.”

Halo 5: Guardians releases on October 27 exclusively for Xbox One. Check out the trailer below.

Our Take
GameStop’s pre-order bonus should be a compelling incentive for fans enthusiastic about the latest new hero in the franchise. It will be interesting to see which other retailers follow suit with pre-order bonuses of their own, and what options potential players will have to choose between by the time Halo 5 releases in October.
