Weekend Warrior 04/10/2015

by Elise Favis on Apr 10, 2015 at 02:00 PM

Jeff Cork is planning a video game themed birthday party for his son, and the rest of us are mostly still inching through Bloodborne. What are you up to this weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Kyle Hilliard (@Kylemhilliard): Definitely have TV catch-up to do this weekend with Last Man on Earth and Better Call Saul. I'm also thinking it might be time to dive into Bloodborne. Otherwise I've still got Axiom Verge, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Xenoblade 3DS that I've been slowly creeping my way through.

Jeff Cork (@gijeff): We're having a birthday party for my oldest kid this weekend, and he decided this year's theme was going to be video games. I've made a point of not nudging him toward games if he didn't seem interested, but I'm not going to pretend that this isn't a great idea. We're going to play a bunch of 8-player Smash, and I'll pick Villager until someone cries or yanks my controller out of the Wii U. Once the house clears, I might finally give Bloodborne a shot. It seems like I'm the only person in the office who hasn't played it yet, so I'd better get on it already.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM): Bloodborne has officially sunk its creepy, Lovecraftian tentacles into me. I managed to finish up Old Yharnam last night and even beat the Blood-Starved Beast on my first try, but attempting the first Chalice dungeon was a serious wake-up call – so far that Undead Giant has been the hardest boss I’ve come across; I nearly depleted my entire supply of Blood Vials before finally taking him down, but the Adept Blood Gemstone he dropped immediately earned a slot in my Hunter Axe. God, video games are nerdy.

Tim Turi (@timturi): Last night I finally reached the conclusion of Bloodborne. I missed a couple bosses along the way, so I may return to it via new game-plus in the near future. For now, my eyes turn back to the games I neglected while embarking on From Software’s irresistible offering. I need to finish up Ori and the Blind Forest, the last few hours of Dying Light, and finally begin Axiom Verge. I’d also like to pick up Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate again, if I can find time.

Mike Futter (@futterish): This weekend I am replaying Mortal Kombat 9 to get ready for Mortal Kombat X. I say replaying, because I’m in it for the story. Laugh. It’s ok. I’ll also be playing Bloodborne, which has its hooks in me deep. And, if I remember, I’ll be rocking some weeklies in Destiny to earn some coins and buy me a Suros Regime.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty): This weekend I'm hoping to finally start playing Pillars of Eternity. I've never played one of those Infinity engine RPGs before so I'm curious what I'll think of it. Is anybody else playing it out there? Outside of that, I'm sure I'll be playing some Smash Bros., Drawful, and ping pong this weekend. Oh, and I'm playing the great board game Avalon tonight with our batch of interns. It will get intense. Have a good weekend!

Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves): My father in law is retiring this weekend, so I’ll probably go to his retirement party and try to convince him to spend his new free time playing Destiny with me. Also, Bloodborne has its hooks in me. I’m about halfway through (I think) and I’m hoping to put some miles in on it on Sunday. Other than that, I just keep looking good.

Jon Gregory (@JMan240): I have no idea what I’ll actually get up to this weekend, it’ll probably be some really sorry combination of playing old games when I should be playing new ones, binge watching Netflix, and staring at Steam pages while fighting the urge to click those massive, deviously green buttons. You know, outside of Avalon and whatnot tonight.

Elise Favis (@elisefavis):  I think I'll probably spend most of the weekend with Pillars of Eternity. I'd also like to try out Axiom Verge, as I've been really excited about it,  but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Justin Mikos (@JustinMikos): I’m starting out this weekend by driving out to Barnes and Nobles, Gamestop and Buffalo Wild Wings hopefully with my fellow interns. I’m planning to pick up some light novels and my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D which I’m excited to dive back into after the Grind Time livestream. Later tonight we are going to Ben Hanson’s house to play some video games and Avalon which should be awesome! On the weekend proper I’m planning on finishing Box Boy which is fantastic, playing more Axiom Verge, and watching the first episode of Nisekoi season 2 and more Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks. Have a great weekend everyone!
