Hideo Kojima’s Name Returned To One Of The Metal Gear Titles

by Mike Futter on Apr 01, 2015 at 11:54 AM

Remember last week when Konami removed Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima’s name from online box art? Well, since then there have been a couple of statements from Konami and one joint statement from the company with Kojima. Today brings another wrinkle.

We were alerted to the fact that Kojima’s name has been restored on Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. At the time of publication, his name still does not appear on either Metal Gear Solid V title.

The three images below (click to enlarge) show the progression of this odd name game. We’ve reached out to Konami for information, and we’ll update should the publisher get back to us.

Our Take
Whatever is going on at Konami related to Kojima’s announced retirement has us confused. It doesn’t help that today is April Fool’s Day and Kojima loves toying with his fan base.
