Western Digital Announces 2TB External Hard Drive Aimed At Gamers

by Daniel Tack on Mar 31, 2015 at 06:15 AM

If you’re frustrated with the Xbox One's tiny 500GB internal hard drive and running out of room thanks to digital downloads, Western Digital has a solution targeted at you. The 2TB My Passport X portable hard drive offers enough storage space to store roughly 50 games without having to delete old games.

Designed with an aesthetic that matches the Xbox One, the Passport X connects to your console via USB 3.0 and doesn't require an additional power supply. The MSRP is $139.99, but Amazon currently has it listed at $99. The hard drive is releasing April 9th, and we hope to get a review up close to that date.

Our Take
Lack of hard drive space is a reality for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners. If you own the Sony console you can replace the internal drive, but Xbox One owners need an external solution like this. As with any game or peripheral, we'll have to put the Passport X through its paces before recommending it.
