Civil War Returning To Marvel Comics In July

by Andrew Reiner on Mar 24, 2015 at 05:33 AM

Captain America and Iron Man were at odds with one another in 2006's Civil War, and even after death, these two are right back at it – dividing super heroes and the nation over several pressing issues of the day. The new Civil War story launches in July and is a part of Marvel's universe-wide Secret Wars event.

In an interview with Marvel, writer Charles Soule says "The story is located in a nation on the Battleworld called the Warzone. That spot is pretty isolated from the rest of Battleworld, and there are story reasons for that, which you’ll see. It was important to me to write a story that could work either as an independent book—whether you’re reading Secret Wars or not, or even if you've never read the original Civil War—or as part of the larger story. That was a tricky thing to pull off, but I think it works."

Battleworld is a confusing new world where many of Marvel's continuities are amalgamating. You can get the lay of the land here. And not to spoil too much about this story, but Marvel's solicitation for the first issue of Civil War hints at this divide having something to do with President Stark's administration.
