HBO Reveals New Internet-Only HBO Go Subscription

by Bryan Vore on Mar 09, 2015 at 07:57 AM

HBO CEO Richard Plepler appeared onstage at Apple's press conference to announce HBO Now, which brings HBO Go to anyone with an Internet connection.

The service is set to launch on Apple TV, iOS devices, and PCs in early April (it will be ready for the Game of Thrones premier on April 12 for sure).

HBO Now will cost $14.99 per month, but anyone who signs up through an Apple device will receive a free 30-day trial.

Apple is set to be the debut platform for HBO Now. No word on when we'll see the service on home consoles.

Interested parties can check out the official site and watch the announce trailer below.

Our Take
It's great that HBO is finally breaking ties with TV providers and offering its services directly. It's a bummer that they didn't go wide with the launch so more people can enjoy it, but it would be crazy if we didn't see HBO Now on other platforms before long.
