Return To Castle Wolfenstein In Standalone Prequel This May

by Mike Futter on Mar 04, 2015 at 03:00 AM

Bethesda and Machine Games are giving fans of Wolfenstein: The New Order a little surprise. The duo have announced a standalone prequel expansion to last year’s entry in the franchise.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a two-chapter adventure that takes place in 1946. The Nazis are winning the war and BJ Blazkowicz is going to stop them (or not, as we learned from The New Order).

The first chapter sees BJ breaking into Castle Wolfenstein. The second takes him to the town of Wulfburg, where the Nazis are unearthing mysterious artifacts.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be out on May 5 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Bethesda is pricing the expansion at $19.99. For more on Wolfenstein: The New Order, you can read our review.

Our Take
Wolfenstein: The New Order was my favorite game of 2014. This is an unexpected, pleasant, and violently excellent surprise. I'm looking forward to this one.
