Sony Speaking With Joseph Kosinski About Directing Gran Turismo Film

by Brian Shea on Mar 02, 2015 at 03:03 PM

The upcoming Gran Turismo film adaption is getting closer to having a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is currently in talks with Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tron: Legacy and Oblivion, to take the directing vacancy for the Gran Turismo film.

Not many details are known about the project, but in 2013, Gran Turismo director Kazunori Yamauchi told us that the plot will be less focused on car action and more centered on human drama and the "growth of a young man," which is why he approved of the project after several years of rejecting the studio's requests. If Kosinski joins the team, he will work on a new script with the studio.

Recently, EA's Need for Speed series was brought to the big screen with Aaron Paul in the lead role. Need for Speed earned $17.8 million in its first weekend and received generally poor reviews.
